Firsts

My name is Lauren and I’ve caught the travel bug.

I got back from the United States a mere 24 days ago and it made me think about how to share my story, how to share my reasons why I travel.

I love adventure, I love new experiences, I love meeting new people, however that’s not just it. I love travelling to see rugby around the world.

Expensive habit you ask? Well worth every cent in my opinion.

Rugby travels from 2014. Clockwise from top left: Me at AMI Stadium, Christchurch New Zealand in May 2014, Me in Brisbane, Australia in October 2014, All Blacks captain, Richie McCaw and I at AMI Stadium, Christchurch New Zealand in July 2014 and My rugby buddy, Nancy Scuri and I at Soldier Field, Chicago, USA in November 2014

This year, I’ve travelled further than I’ve ever done before, the equivalent of 1 and 1/2 times around the planet. Next year will further again, but more on that another time.

I’ve toured the South Island of New Zealand which I’ve never done, despite having family in the North Island, yet I felt more at peace in the South Island.

I’ve gone on my first ever long haul trip to the United States. I got to see the All Blacks play in a country that is not a well known rugby nation.

I have also seen more Crusaders* games is than I have ever done before I have travelled to New Zealand more than I have ever done before and I think I have got more frequent flyer points than I have ever done before!

*The Crusaders are a New Zealand rugby union team based in Christchurch that competes in the Super Rugby competition. They are the most successful team in Super Rugby history with seven titles.

*Thanks Wikipedia.

That’s just some of my firsts.

My other firsts include the long haul flying, jet lag, business class upgrades, learning how to pack better and how not to do your underwear washing in the basin.

So this blog is not just another first for me but something I can say how I do travel, how I find the best place to stay or fly, where I like to go, how I get to rugby games, how I travel within the country or place I’m staying, even some reviews as well.

Happy travelling.
